Description
The advanced LifeStraw technology provides two-stage protection against most waterborne diseases. The membrane microfilter removes 99.999999% of bacteria, 99.999% of parasites and 99.999% of microplastics (lifetime 2,000 L). Replaceable activated carbon capsule reduces lead and chlorine, improves taste, reduces bad odors and organic chemicals (lifetime 100 L). You can change the charcoal filter separately.
- 2-stage replacement filter compatible with all LifeStraw Go and Lifestraw Universal bottles
- Uses advanced hollow fiber membrane technology (0.2 micron) to remove waterborne bacteria and protozoa up to 4,000 liters
- Uses replaceable activated carbon capsules to reduce bad taste, chlorine and organic chemicals for up to 100 liters or 3 months, whichever comes first.
LifeStraw's membrane microfilters are made of hollow fiber membrane technology. These membranes are made of tiny straws that contain microscopic pores 0.2 micrometers in diameter. Dirty water enters one side of the straws and clean water passes through the pores, while bacteria, parasites, microplastics, dirt and other types of turbidity are blocked and unable to pass through because they are too large. The result is that safe drinking water flows into a bearing chamber for drinking, while contaminants are blocked
LifeStraw Activated Carbon filters improve water taste by removing chemicals like chlorine and odors. The activated carbon has been treated with specific processes to open millions of tiny pores between carbon atoms. LifeStraw uses an advanced, special formulation made from fiber instead of traditional granular carbon, which improves longevity and performance. This process works via adsorption - pollutants are trapped inside the pore structure of the carbon and bind to the surfaces of the fibres. Over time, when all surface areas are full, the carbon filter must be replaced.
