The 4mm thick mat works great for most yoga practices as it provides enough padding under the knees and hands, but also enough support from the ground to make it easy to stay upright. Easy to carry between home and yoga studio. The "sticky" texture of the surface gives the mat more grip so it doesn't slide under your hands and feet or against the floor. PVC is a very durable material, so the mat works great in dynamic exercises such as flow yoga or Astanga. The material contains no latex or harmful phthalates. Manufacturer's Care Instructions: Printed yoga mats release a very strong but harmless odor when first unwrapped. Roll and air out your mat for 2-3 days before use. Spot clean with Gaiam Yoga Mat Wash or damp cloth with cold water and mild detergent. Dry flat. The mat can fade and become brittle and unusable if exposed to the sun for extended periods. We recommend storing your mat in a mat bag when not in use.
